Volunteers constructed the engine shed and pinned the final pylons for the ski lift as night fell.
Wednesday 17th December. Cold, wet and windy day, it felt pretty miserable at times. While Chris ferried the last of the repaired pylons up the hill, Ross, Bruce and Anjo dug in a further four. Just a half dozen to go now. Photo by Ross Dolder.
Thursday 18th December. Chris, Neil, Nathan, Matt, and Anjo loaded Tom Moffat's trailer with the engine shed's panels while James McKelvie provided transport for the crew. Unfortunately, NATS's snowcat had broken down below Lowther Hill, blocking access to the site. The transportation of the engine shed had to be postponed until Saturday 20th.
Saturday 20th December. A well attended party and very productive day. Tom Moffat brought the shed to the site early in the morning. Alex Peden re-assembled the shed with the help of Ross Dolder, Jamie Johnston, Cath Hoult, Neil Munro, Des Reid and Anjo Abelaira, who later went on to erect the last pylons. Photos by Ross Dolder.
A beautiful time-lapse of the day by Des Reid. Construction of the engine shed and erection of the last pylon:
The Lowther Hills Ski Club is run entirely by volunteers. The Club holds work parties to maintain our equipment and run the ski tows. If you would be willing to give us a hand at any work meets please get in touch.
