Snow Report - 2 January 2018
Happy new year. Above, Lowther Hill on the 30th December right before Storm Dylan paid us a visit.
Below, Lowther Hill 24 hours later after Storm Dylan moved away from the south of Scotland. Here's a timely reminder that the snow in the hills of the south of Scotland can fall at very short notice, but also can thaw extremely quickly.
Today it's Storm Eleanor. Watch it live in our webcams and spare a thought for the club's ageing Engine Hut which this season has so far survived storms Ophelia, Dylan and now Eleanor.
Last night there was a bit of snow at village level, followed by heavy rain and strong winds as the day started. The forecast for the next days says we may just see some snow on Lowther Hill. Members keep an eye on your emails, hopefully by Friday evening we'll have a clearer picture of snow conditions at the top.
Please remember: Lowther Hills is a membership-based ski club. You need to sign up as a member to use the club's facilities, and only members receive information regarding the opening times of the slope. Join here: http://www.skiclub.lowtherhills.com/join
