There's plenty happening in Scotland's Highest Villages this weekend, so here's a great opportunity to take the family for a fun visit to the Lowther Hills.
As usual, we'll be working on the hill this weekend. On Sunday 8th of December we are hosting a Ski Club Open Day where everybody is invited to come along and learn about the progress achieved so far as we build the only ski centre in the south of Scotland.

Have a leisurely walk to Lowther Hill to see work we've done so far and meet volunteers who will be happy to answer your questions. If you haven't been to Lowther Hill before, you can find some directions here. It's likely to be cold, so please dress for the weather on Lowther Hill.
During your visit to Scotland's highest villages...It will be a busy weekend in Scotland's Highest Villages as Santa will be visiting Wanlockhead and meeting children at the Lochnell Lead Mine. Go to the Leadhills and Wanlockhead Winterfest and Craft Fair for a more relaxed and original way to do your Christmas shopping, with a superb collection of local crafters and artisans. The craft fair is held at Wanlockhead Community Centre, ML12 6UT. There is limited parking space available in front of the Community Centre. The Wanlockhead Inn has parking space available for customers.
Other local attractions include the highest part of the Southern Upland Way, the Leadhills Library (the oldest subscription library in the British Isles), the famous Leadhills Mining Bears, and the Leadhills Historic Trail (trail leaflets available at the Hopetoun Arms Hotel in Leadhills).
